We have almost 50 members-- ranging in age from young to elderly with varied interests, and activity levels. Members rockhound, do lapidary work, sell items at shows, and a few just tag along and pick up what others consider as leaverites. Whatever interest an individual has in rocks and minerals the Chief Joseph Gem and Mineral Club offers a place and an opportunity to share and learn them!
Currently the rock club meets at the Eagles Lodge in the city of Okanogan on the second Wednesday of each month. Many individuals join us at 5:30 pm for a no-host dinner and a little pre-meeting social time. Our meetings start at 6:30 pm and run for about an hour. During this time we'll discuss club business, field trips, and often hear presentations from club members on varied topics which might include working rocks, descriptions on how minerals are formed, or geology for our region.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the club, come by one of our meetings and speak with our Secretary and Treasurer. Yearly membership dues are as follows:
Whether you join us on a field trip for a day or for many trips, membership is required. Dues help the club pay for liability insurance, association dues, and postage.
